Death and Life Are in the Power of the Tongue

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

Close-up of a man's tongue transforming from cracked, barren earth into flourishing green grass and a tree, symbolizing the power of words to destroy or give life.

Our words reveal what is in our hearts. Jesus taught that a good heart produces good things, while an evil heart produces evil things (Matthew 12:35). Like our actions, our words expose what is within us (Isaiah 59:2–3).

Jesus warned that we will give account for every careless word we speak (Matthew 12:36). Yet Scripture teaches that we cannot tame the tongue by our own strength, calling it "a restless evil, full of deadly poison" (James 3:8). A controlled tongue is therefore evidence of God's Spirit at work in us.

Salvation comes through Christ and His atoning work on the cross, not through perfect speech. But because our words reveal the condition of our hearts, they carry serious weight: "For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:37).

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

—Luke 6:45 (KJV)

✠ P.S. If your mouth keeps undermining the man you're trying to become, you don't just need a better filter—you need a deeper transformation. Inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️, we help men confront what their words reveal about their hearts—and grow in the Spirit-led self-control to speak with integrity. Join us.

Once a Man Has Tasted the Light

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A man holding a Bible stands between a demonic figure in dark storm clouds and God's outstretched hand in heavenly light, symbolizing the choice between evil and salvation.

A lost man lives in darkness, spiritually dead and unable to come to Christ unless the Father draws him (Eph. 2:1; John 6:44).

But Scripture also speaks of men who are "enlightened," who "taste of the heavenly gift" and "the good word of God," yet still fall away (Heb. 6:4-6).

To taste the light is not necessarily to possess the Light—but tasting it reveals an alternative. Before, darkness was all the man knew; now he has seen another way.

This does not mean illumination has regenerated him or made him spiritually neutral, but it does mean his rejection is no longer made in the same ignorance.

He has tasted the light and knowingly turns back toward darkness. That is why Scripture says it would have been "better for them not to have known the way of righteousness" than, having known it, to turn away (2 Pet. 2:21).

Before tasting the light, there was ignorance. After tasting the light, there can be knowing rejection—and with greater knowledge comes greater accountability.

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

— John 3:19 (KJV)

✠ P.S. Exposure is not conversion. Familiarity is not faith. A man can stand close enough to the Light to recognize it and still walk away. Inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️, we help men stop making peace with the darkness they've already recognized—and pursue Christ through real repentance and costly obedience. Join us.

You Own the Rejection. God Owns the Salvation.

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A man's hand reaching from darkness toward a robed hand extending from radiant golden light, symbolizing God's offer of salvation and grace.

God is the decisive cause of salvation; man remains the responsible agent of rejection.

Man can genuinely and knowingly reject revealed truth. That rejection is his doing. God isn't unbelieving for him, coercing him into unbelief, or morally responsible for his sin. The man acts according to his own desires and will.

But the reverse doesn't have to be symmetrical. If that man actually comes savingly to Christ, God's grace was decisive:

Rejection: man willingly rejects the light.

Salvation: God draws, regenerates, and enables the man to embrace the Light.

Man can own his rejection without being the author of his salvation.

Scripture can simultaneously say:

"ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."

— John 5:40

and:

"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him."

— John 6:44

✠ P.S. You can know the Scriptures, defend sound doctrine, and still resist the God they reveal. Knowing the truth isn't the same as surrendering to it. Inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️, we help men close the gap between the truth they defend and the life they live—bringing their decisions, desires, and conduct under Christ's authority. Join us.

Sola Scriptura vs. Church Tradition

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

An epic fantasy church perched high in the mountains, with soaring spires, intricate architecture, and surrounded by misty peaks.

"Divine authority is superior to all human authority, making Scripture the highest authority."

— The God Pill

At The God Pill, we hold to sola scriptura, not church tradition—

—and we believe that the church is the Bride of Christ (Eph. 5:25-27; 31-32).

We also believe that a wife must SUBMIT to the "word" of her husband (Eph. 5:24)—

—and that genuine submission involves one party yielding to another's authority, creating a distinction between the one who submits and the one to whom they submit.

Therefore, if the church (the bride) submits to the WORD of Christ (the Husband), then Christ's Word must supersede church tradition—

—and His Word, as revealed in Scripture, must be greater than Apostolic authority—

—and His divine authority must be superior to all human authority, making Scripture the 👉 HIGHEST AUTHORITY 👈 (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

"See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ."

— Colossians 2:8 (ESV)

*Related: "Assert Your God-Ordained Headship Authority"
*Related: "Christ & His Church: A Metaphor For Earthy Marriage"

✠ P.S. If you are wrestling with God and questioning whether your faith is real or merely inherited, this is not doubt—it is pressure testing your faith. When churches soften and Christian men grow weaker than the world they are called to confront, faith becomes a battleground. This brotherhood restores Biblically masculine conviction and forges faith that holds under fire—inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️. Because a faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted.

Are You an Ignorant Idiot or an Educated Fool?

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A fat man with a foolish demeanor, his face contorted in anger, featuring a furrowed brow and tense expression.

"It doesn't matter how smart or reasonable you are. If the opposition is too stupid to understand, you'll never win. So do not speak in the hearing of fools, for they will despise the good sense of your words. If Jesus couldn't convince them, neither will you."

— The God Pill

The Bible warns that "everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak" (James 1:19), and that "the way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice" (Prov. 12:15).

As Lao Tzu eloquently said, "Those who know do not speak, and those who speak do not know."

So, I ask you: Are you following the way of a wise man—

—or of a FOOL? 😵‍💫

"You cannot always be right; you should try being wrong sometimes because you might learn something."

— Johnny Depp

The Idiot Test

When presented with new information, do you listen to UNDERSTAND, or do you hear to RESPOND?

Is your first impulse to:

A) Point out the EXCEPTION?

or...

B) Understand the RULE?

Now, pause and examine yourself carefully: 🔎

  • Are you idealistic or realistic?
  • Is your approach based on logic and reason or feeling and emotion?
  • Do you operate on probability and actuality or possibility and potentiality?
  • Do you embrace the norm or reach for the outlier?

Consider the time-honored phrase:

💡 "The exception proves the rule." 💡

Put another way, the exception is the reason the rule exists.

Again, the exception demonstrates why we have a rule.

And rules are 👉 IMPORTANT 👈.

"To every rule there is an exception—and an idiot ready to demonstrate it. Don't be the one!"

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood

"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."

― Proverbs 18:2 (ESV)

"If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet."

— Proverbs 29:9 (ESV)

Remember

What's more dangerous than believing something without evidence is rejecting the evidence in favor of what you believe.

So, sit back, relax, open your mind—

—and come to 👉 LEARN 👈, not to argue.

If your mind is already made up, my job is not to convince you; it is only to deliver the message.

"Learning without thinking is useless. Thinking without learning is dangerous."

— Confucius

"Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent."

— Proverbs 17:28 (ESV)
Fools are blinded by truth.

"And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

— Matthew 13:14-15 (KJV)

*Related: "Most Men Can't Think Outside The One-Dimensional Box"
*Related: "Your Friends Don't Want Your Help"
*Related: "Kick The Dust Off Your Feet"
*Related: "You Don't Know What You Don't Know"

✠ P.S. If you freeze under pressure—your chest tightens, your thoughts scatter, and you surrender the moment—this is not fragility; it is emotional volatility. Pressure does not break men—it exposes who is in control. A man who governs his reactions is dangerous: calm when others panic, deliberate when others unravel. The Kingdom Council 🏛️ trains you to remain dangerous under pressure. Because the man who controls himself does not just win the moment—he owns it.

We Are All Screwed Up—All of Us

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A lonely man among the stars, gazing into the vast expanse, seeking a connection with God.

"As the Scriptures say, 'No one is righteous— not even one.'"

— Romans 3:10 (NLT)

We all have SECRET thoughts.

We all have FORBIDDEN desires.

We all have HIDDEN sins.

We all have a PAST.

We all stand 👉 GUILTY 👈 before the Lord—every single one of us.

You are not alone, my brother.

God sees you...

"Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LORD."

— Jeremiah 23:24 (ESV)

The truth is that we all have 💀 SKELETONS IN OUR CLOSET 💀—

—yet we are often unaware of our own DEPRAVITY, as the world seeks to blind our eyes and harden our hearts.

In our flesh, our transgressions frequently go UNNOTICED—

—and we fail to recognize just how far we've BACKSLIDDEN.

"The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?"

— Jeremiah 17:9 (NLT)

Often, only the eyes of God can REVEAL it.

Only the mind of God can PERCEIVE it.

Only the strength of God can BEAR it.

Only the hand of God can LEAD it.

Only the peace of God can SOOTHE it.

And only the power of God can 👉 TRANSFORM 👈 it.

You are not alone...

Seek the LORD while he may be found—

—and call on him while he is near (Isa. 55:6).

Praise be to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who called us out of darkness and into his marvelous light!

"In Christianity, it's not 'due'; it's 'done,' based on what Christ has done."

*Related: "Check Your Heart!"

✠ P.S. When a man hides sin, carries guilt, and pretends he is fine, the indictment is simple. Sin does not die in the dark—it grows there, and isolation does not strengthen a man—it softens him. The Kingdom Council 🏛️ is where hidden battles are exposed, compromise is rejected, and obedience is lived under accountability. A man who hides his battle will lose it—because what is concealed is never conquered.

Check Your Heart!

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A stone heart drifting through the cosmos, glowing faintly as it trails a comet-like tail of light and debris.

"Touch me, O Lord,
and fill me with your light and your hope.
Please give me strength when I am weak,
love when I am forsaken,
courage when I am afraid,
wisdom when I am foolish,
comfort when I am alone,
hope when I am rejected,
and peace when I am afflicted.
Amen."

When we are hit with severe hardship, trial, or affliction, one of two things generally happens:

We retreat inward—

—or we reach upward.

When We Retreat Inward

Our HEARTS HARDEN, leading to a spirit of bitterness and resentment taking root—

—and we lash out at God with fiery rage because life seems so UNFAIR.

When We Reach Upward

Our HEARTS SOFTEN, and our love and devotion to God—coupled with our utter helplessness apart from Him—drive us to our knees in shame-faced sobriety—

—and we cry out to Him in anguish, "Abba, Father!" with a broken and contrite heart because we know we cannot do it ALONE.

How Will You Respond to Life's Challenges?

Will you harden or soften?

Will you stand alone or kneel in His presence?

Will you isolate in anger or connect in surrender?

Will BITTERNESS drive you—

—or will HUMILITY guide you?

"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."

— Isaiah 55:6-9 (ESV)

*Related: "We Are All Screwed Up—All of Us"

✠ P.S. If you have drifted from God or are wrestling with doubt, this is not a phase—it is erosion. Distance from God never stays neutral; it weakens conviction until faith collapses under pressure. This brotherhood exists to restore Biblical masculinity and forge faith that is lived, not inherited—inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️. Because when pressure comes, a faith you do not live will leave you standing alone.

The Bible Version Conundrum

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A Bible engulfed in mystical flames, emanating an intense and otherworldly aura of power and authority.

"The Bible's message is universal, speaking to the deepest needs and longings of humanity across all cultures, times, and languages. Translations serve as vessels to deliver this divine truth to every corner of the earth."

— The God Pill

TThe King James Bible is my go-to source.

It is the translation I reach for most—
but while I prefer the KJV, I am not King James Only.

Why?

Because the audience must UNDERSTAND the words being taught.

So, I choose the translation that will IMPACT the broadest possible audience.

This means that for some audiences, I'll cite the KJV or NKJV; for others, the ESV or NASB; still, for others, the NIV or NLT—

—because it's not just about listening to the words—

—but ABSORBING them.

It's not just about hearing the words—

—but INTERNALIZING them.

Comprehension is CRITICAL—

—and discernment is ESSENTIAL.

"While the choice of translation can influence our interpretation, it is the Holy Spirit who ultimately guides us to the heart of Scripture, revealing its profound truths in ways that speak directly to our souls."

— The God Pill

✠ P.S. When faith wavers and doubt creeps in, it is not harmless—it is structural failure. Men do not lose faith all at once; they surrender it piece by piece until conviction breaks. This brotherhood is where faith is reforged and proven under pressure—inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️. What you compromise in quiet will collapse you in crisis.

I Am Enjoying & Finding Value With The God Pill

It’s helping me identify my weaknesses while giving me practical advice on what and how to self-improve. It’s also helping me identify women’s nature. One Thing Is For Sure:

The God Pill is one of the rare places where we guys can share men’s topics that most churches will never touch on. Where can we guys talk about intersexual dynamics, real issues that plague men in our current gynocentric society and sissified churches, where we sing about Jesus being our lover and never about joining the Supreme Commander of the Armies of Heaven for battle? The God Pill is a breath of fresh air, and King David would have certainly joined it, in my opinion!

If You Are Looking For A Manly & Godly Brotherhood...

this is the place. No whining here. Together, we learn and warn each other about the current pitfalls facing those of us unashamed of their God-given masculinity. No emojis, no AI sermons, just men learning and communicating overtly and willing to act like men according to biblical standards (1 Cor 16:13 ESV). We love women for who they are, not for what we wished they were.
