Choose Your Hard

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

Muscular man at a fork in the road, facing two signs pointing in opposite directions that both read "HARD," symbolizing that every path involves hardship.

"Choose the hard that builds you, not the hard that breaks you."

— The God Pill

Staying fat is HARD. Getting fit is HARD.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

Grinding a 9-to-5 is HARD. Grinding for financial freedom is HARD.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

Walking up to her is HARD. Wishing you had is HARD.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

Living without God is HARD. Living wholly for God is HARD.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

Life is never easy—
it's HARD by design.

The only thing you must do is CHOOSE YOUR HARD.

S̲O̲ ̲C̲H̲O̲O̲S̲E̲ ̲W̲I̲S̲E̲L̲Y̲.

"I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live."

— Deuteronomy 30:19 (ESV)

✠ P.S. You don't escape hardship by avoiding discipline. You simply exchange the pain of growth for the pain of regret. Inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️, we help men stop settling for the hard that keeps them stuck—and build the strength to face what they've avoided, the discipline to finish what they've started, and the faith to obey God when it costs them. Will Abstinence Kill Our Intimacy?

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A Christian man holding a Bible raises his hand to resist a woman's seductive advances, with a sunlit cross behind him, symbolizing resistance to sexual temptation.

You're asking the wrong question.

The question isn't, "Will abstinence hurt our intimacy?" It's, "How do we honor and obey God?"

That's part of what it means to take up your cross. Following Christ means God gets your obedience—

—even when obedience costs you something you deeply desire.

A divided heart asks, "How much can I keep and still follow God?" A man after God's heart asks, "What does God require of me?"

And as the man, this starts with self-governance and responsibility—especially when the temptation isn't coming from you.

Often the hardest test comes when she loses her resolve, initiates, and pulls you toward the very thing you've both agreed to leave behind. Don't repeat Adam's failure: when she reaches for what God forbids, don't follow her into it.

Scripture says flee sexual immorality. Your job is to hold the line even when she wants to cross it. A disciplined man governs himself, covers his woman, and leads the relationship away from temptation rather than deeper into it.

As for intimacy: taking sex away may reveal that there's far more substance underneath your relationship than you realized—

—or it may reveal the harder truth: sex was doing the work of intimacy, masking how little substance the relationship actually has.

Either way, you need to know the truth before you put a ring on her finger.

And one thing even more important than the sexual question: you're both exploring Christianity. Before marriage, find out whether you're merely adopting Christian values or actually following Christ.

God first. Relationship second. Desire in its proper place.

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality."

— 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV)

✠ P.S. If you've ever promised God "never again" and still folded when temptation was right in front of you, you know the gap between conviction and self-control. You can't lead her toward Christ while letting desire lead you. Inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️, you'll find brothers who won't excuse your compromises—or leave you to fight alone. Join us.

Married and Flirty: Is She Ready to Cheat?

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A woman locking eyes with you in a seductive gaze, her attention simultaneously engaged with another man nearby.

"I met this married woman through cold approach and got her number. We text every day, and every time I try to flirt with her, she tells me to stop because she is married. We have a great connection; she tells me secrets, and I tell her mine. Will she ever leave her husband for me? I'm starting to fall for her, but she treats me as a friend. She gives me IOIs through text and invests in the conversation with me a lot. What does that mean? Is she thinking of cheating or just being friends with a stranger she never met?"

— Freddy Clemente, private group member

⚠️ PAUSE! ⚠️

Put the BRAKES on, my brother.

Get ahold of yourself.

Rise above your primal urges—

—and think with the RIGHT HEAD.

👉 REPENT! 👈

Consider how following through with this fantasy will damage your INTEGRITY—

—your confidence, competence, and conscience—

—and your VALUE as a man…

Is this the LEGACY you want to leave behind?

Is this the type of man you want to become?

Pursuing another man's wife is the definition of LOW-VALUE.

Don't be a BOTTOM FEEDER. 🦐

Stop lusting over low-hanging, forbidden fruit. 🍎🪱

A high-value man who has leveled up and done the work will always have OPTIONS—

—and, right now, it's clear you don't.

You are operating from SCARCITY because you haven't done the HARD WORK: you haven't leveled up your fitness, finances, finesse, and faith.

You haven't become a man you can be PROUD OF—

Remember

"If she cheats with you, she'll cheat on you."

Again, if she cheats with you, she'll cheat on you.

It's true; she may cheat on her husband either way—with or without you—but that's on her.

Don't be Satan's PAWN in her debauchery.

Never forget: What you sow in defiance, you'll reap in destruction.

For of this you can be sure:

"Your sin will find you out" (Num. 32:23).

"But each [man] is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire."

— James 1:14 (ESV)

✠ P.S. If you are chasing women who never choose you—or worse, realizing no woman chooses you at all—this is not bad luck. It is cause and effect. The Kingdom Council 🏛️ is where you stop seeking approval and forge yourself into a man women respond to without persuasion. Because women do not follow potential—they follow power.

From Distance to Desire: How to Make Her Miss You

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A cold, distant woman in the backward embrace of another man, his identity obscured behind her.

"Hey, I was dating this girl, and she asked for space, so I went no contact for nine days. She finally reached out, saying she had changed her mind, but she seemed distant, contacting me only once every week or so. The last time she wanted to talk, I missed her call. When I called back, we talked for five minutes, and I told her we'd talk later because I was busy. Two days later, I texted her about meeting up. It's been two weeks, and I haven't heard from her. I haven't called her either because she seems distant, and I felt I should mirror her actions to maintain polarity. What should I do?"

— Jack Zamàñi, private group member

Here's some food for thought: 👉 LET HER GO 👈.

The writing is on the wall.

She's no longer invested in you.

She's no longer interested.

She no longer CARES.

Perhaps you've heard the expression, "Out of sight, out of mind."

At some point, she LOST her attraction and is now simply USING YOU for a free dopamine hit of attention and validation.

That's reality.

"Actions are the greatest indicator of intent, so judge by actions, not words. Behavior is the only reliable evidence of motivation. By her fruits, you will recognize her."

— God Pill Maxim

Listen, I Get It...

We men are STUBBORN, forever determined to push forward—to rise to the challenge, hoping against hope—even when it defies our better judgment.

So, if you're still determined to press on, what actions can you take?

At this stage, I recommend shifting to "STRATEGIC PRESENCE."

That's right—contrary to popular opinion, it may actually be beneficial to INCREASE your presence—

—just don't become TOO present.

The key here is 👉 BALANCE 👈—

—and the good news is, there's a way to achieve it.

Here's What I Suggest

Reach out to her ONCE with something short, simple, and sweet.

Something that doesn't require investment, commitment, or even a response—just something light-hearted and fun.

Something that triggers positive emotions.

Nothing heavy.

Don't overthink it.

This is just to get the ball rolling...

After that:

⚠️ DO NOT call her.
⚠️ DO NOT text her.
⚠️ NOTHING.

Simply wait...

⚠️ ZERO CONTACT! ⚠️

"Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires."

— Song of Solomon 2:7 (NIV)

Hear me now: A woman is like a cat; you cannot negotiate her feelings or desires.

You must "release her" and let her return of her OWN VOLITION.

If she doesn't, she lacks 👉 GENUINE DESIRE 👈—

—and it's best to AVOID women who lack genuine desire anyway.

It's an UPHILL BATTLE, and trust me—that's a hill you don't want to die on.

SO, BE PATIENT!

After planting the seed, you must give it TIME TO GROW. 🌳

It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is—so give her the gift of missing you.

Because—ultimately—the most compelling way to capture her attention is to take YOURS away.

Let your absence increase her RESPECT and HONOR—

—and only re-engage ⚠️ AFTER ⚠️ she RESPONDS.

Remember, if she's into you, she'll find a WAY; if not, she'll find an EXCUSE.

"When a woman has genuine desire, she will make it obvious; there is no guesswork."

— God Pill Maxim

Here's the CRITICAL PART

When (and if) she replies, greet her with confidence, good vibes, and positive energy.

❌ DON'T bring up the past.
❌ DON'T mention her distant behavior.
❌ DON'T ask why she took so long to respond.

There's a time and place for that, but not here.

"Women want to play the game; they don't want to be told they are playing a game."

— Red Pill Maxim

Lay off the "tactics" and don't pretend to be busy.

Simply welcome her with positivity, optimism, and good spirits—

—but don't immediately push for the meetup.

Again, DO NOT push for the meetup.

Pushing too soon will only serve to PUSH HER AWAY.

It's predictable and boring—she's seen it all before.

So, play it cool, brother.

Appeal to her emotions—

—and prove you can engage without an agenda.

"A genuine Christian is desirable by default, since his highest priority isn't women—but God."

— God Pill Maxim

Remember

Absence is a tool—

—but it's not the ONLY tool.

Balance is CRITICAL.

And you BALANCE hot and cold polarity by staying focused, patient, and silent until you hear from her ("absence")—

—but responding with engagement, positive vibes, and good spirits when you do ("presence").

This, my friend, will make her MISS YOU. 💪

"Pursuing a woman who is distant and closed off is kind of like showing up at your favorite restaurant a minute after they close. Let's say they serve until 8 p.m., and you show up at 8:01. When you walk in the door, they say something like, 'Oh, so sorry, but we're actually closed. Our kitchen is closed, so please come back tomorrow.' Now, just like in a romantic relationship, if you were in this situation in real life, it would be absolutely ludicrous and entitled to insist that you be served. It's only a minute after closing time, but it is technically after closing time. Whether it's an inch or a mile, out of bounds is out of bounds, and expecting that an exception is going to be made for you is a little narcissistic and absurd. That said, it would be just as ludicrous and entitled for the restaurant to expect that you're not going to eat until tomorrow just because their kitchen is closed. So, what do you do in this real-life situation? You say, 'Oh, absolutely, completely understand. Enjoy the rest of your night. I'm gonna see what else is open at this hour, and I'll come back another time.' And you take your hunger where people are willing to serve you. It's that simple."

— Dr. Orion Taraban, PsycHacks

God, Manliness, and Muscular Christianity

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A man embodying the tenets of "muscular Christianity," exuding strength, discipline, and moral vigor.

"Christianity is a fighting religion."

— C.S. Lewis

"Muscular Christianity" promotes physical manliness, virtue—a code of honor marked by loyalty, integrity, and bravery—and masculinity of character.

Followers embrace the principle that a man's physical capabilities should be developed and disciplined not solely for personal gain but to defend those in need, advance virtuous causes, and subdue the earth by the divine mandate given to men.

"Bodily exercise, when it is well ordered, is also prayer by means of which you can please God our Lord."

— Attributed to Saint Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556)

The tenets of Muscular Christianity are as follows:

  1. A man's body is given to him by God;
  2. It is to be trained;
  3. It is to be brought into subjection;
  4. It is then to be used for the protection of the weak;
  5. For the advancement of all righteous causes;
  6. And for the subduing of the earth, which God has given to the children of men.

"Take care of your body as if you were to live forever; and take care of your soul as if you were to die tomorrow."

— Attributed to Saint Augustine (354–430)

Remember

"God revealed Himself in the Bible pervasively as king not queen; father not mother. The second person of the Trinity is revealed as the eternal Son not daughter; the Father and the Son create man and woman in His image and give them the name man, the name of the male… God has given Christianity a masculine feel."

— John Piper

*Related: "Meekness Is Not Weakness"

✠ P.S. If you are tired of getting talked over, ignored, or treated like you are harmless, it is time to face the truth: you taught people they could get away with it. Not because you are weak—you kept the peace instead of drawing a line. The Kingdom Council 🏛️ is where you break that pattern and start carrying yourself in a way that commands respect. Because the world does not honor quiet resentment—it honors honest conviction.

Sacrifice Today, Reap Tomorrow: Why Your Dreams Demand Discipline

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A successful young man in a bustling big city, dressed sharply in a business suit, exuding confidence and ambition.

"All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph! Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! You are reckless!"

— Master Yoda

You have a choice to make: either sacrifice temporary fun for your permanent dreams or sacrifice your permanent dreams for TEMPORARY FUN.

Many are willing to sacrifice their permanent dreams for temporary fun—

—but you must be willing to sacrifice temporary fun, which is fleeting, for your PERMANENT DREAMS.

"So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober."

— 1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NIV)

As a man, your ability to DELAY GRATIFICATION is critical for LONG-TERM success in any endeavor in life.

Mastering this ability will teach you the fundamentals of MASCULINITY, which are self-sacrifice, discipline, perseverance, and doing the hard work—regardless of how you feel.

"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope."

— Romans 5:3-4 (ESV)

Remember

Anything WORTH HAVING almost always hurts you upfront but then gives you long-term pleasure—

—but anything that gives you pleasure upfront almost alway hurts you long-term.

In other words, pain in the front end equals PLEASURE in the back end—

—and pleasure in the front end equals PAIN in the back end.

"They do it to [for] a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize."

— 1 Corinthians 9:25 (NLT)

✠ P.S. If you are tired of wasting time, scrolling instead of building, and watching your potential rot while you promise yourself you will start tomorrow, this is the truth: Cheap dopamine does not just steal time—it steals the man you were meant to become. Enter the Kingdom Council 🏛️—a brotherhood where men place discipline over distraction. Because a man who cannot control his focus cannot control his future.

Life Is What You Make It

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A deadbeat father and his young son, who gazes at him with a conflicted expression, both holding beers and sitting together in a casual yet unsettling scene.

You can be the man who isn't a good father because his father was a deadbeat, or be the man who becomes a good father because his father was a deadbeat.

You can be the man who is a sodomite because his uncle touched him, or be the man who refuses to be a sodomite because his uncle touched him.

You can be the man who becomes an alcoholic because his father was, or be the man who refuses to become an alcoholic because his father was.

You can be the man who HATES God because he suffered a tragic loss, or be the man who LOVES God despite every loss.

So, how can you have the same scenario and completely different outcomes?

"For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.' But his master answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'"

— Matthew 25:14-30 (ESV)

✠ P.S. When isolation hardens into bitterness and anger, men do not heal in silence—they rot in it. Left unchecked, darkness does not fade; it concentrates. This brotherhood exists to expose what festers in isolation and strengthen you through fellowship—inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️. Because isolation does not make men strong—it makes them suffer.

Fear & Desire: The Two Forces Driving Every Decision You Make

By Ryan M. Maes Leave a Comment

A close-up of a man's intense expression, with fear vividly reflected in his eyes.

"People will do more to avoid pain than they will do to gain pleasure."

— Tony Robbins

The heart operates out of fear or desire; everybody's heart does. One pulls you toward something or someone, while the other keeps you from something or someone.

One EMPOWERS you: desire. Another PARALYZES you: fear.

One inspires you to make good decisions, while the other inspires poor decisions.

Almost every action you take today will result from either desire or fear.

Typically, we operate out of intellect or emotions, and the first reaction to everything in your life, 99% of the time, is EMOTION, not intellect.

So, how do we operate as men in this world? Through INTELLECT and DESIRE.

Fear and emotions will lead a man into trouble every single time.

Fear vs. Desire

  • Fear/Emotions: Fear is a powerful emotional response that often stems from a perceived threat or danger. It can manifest in various forms, such as fear of failure, fear of rejection, or fear of physical harm. In decision-making, fear can act as a motivator to avoid negative outcomes or harmful consequences. For example, people might choose not to take risks or make certain decisions because they fear the potential negative consequences.
  • Desire/Intellect: Desire, on the other hand, is the craving or longing for something positive or pleasurable. It can include desires for success, happiness, love, or material possessions. Desires often serve as motivators to take actions that lead to positive outcomes. For instance, the desire for financial security can drive someone to save money and invest wisely.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

— 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

*Credit: @GeorgeBruno

✠ P.S. If hesitation is choking your momentum, this is not caution—it is avoidance. Men do not stall because they lack ability; they stall because nothing punishes delay. This brotherhood trains you to end excuses and drive action under pressure—inside The Kingdom Council 🏛️. Because men who hesitate long enough eventually get passed.

My Review Of The God Pill:

One Thing Is For Sure:

The God Pill is one of the rare places where we guys can share men’s topics that most churches will never touch on. Where can we guys talk about intersexual dynamics, real issues that plague men in our current gynocentric society and sissified churches, where we sing about Jesus being our lover and never about joining the Supreme Commander of the Armies of Heaven for battle? The God Pill is a breath of fresh air, and King David would have certainly joined it, in my opinion!

this is the place. No whining here. Together, we learn and warn each other about the current pitfalls facing those of us unashamed of their God-given masculinity.
